Interactive Video Games…making EVERYONE happy.

We don’t play a lot of video games in my house.  My oldest is only 8 (going on 18….but that’s another story).  They have tablets where they can play some games sometimes, and occasionally will play with our old school Nintendo.  My son loves a good Pokemon raid, but that’s not an often occurrence.  They also are not allowed to watch Youtube for….reasons.  BUT when scrolling through social media myself today (I know, not setting the best of examples all the time, but a girl has got to zone out from time to time so….) I came across a GENIUS idea!  A mom was showing a game she had discovered on Youtube for her kids that allowed her to be in a room with her 3 young ones and be able to actually finish her cup of coffee….wait for it….while it was still hot!

So tonight is Friday.  We usually do Pizza and a movie.  While waiting for the pizza portion of the evening, my two girls were getting antsy so I decided to try her tactic - and we searched for ‘Elf Run’ on Youtube.  An HOUR later and all 3 were still playing.  There were episode after episode of temple run type games interspersed with Grinch freeze dance and the like.  Obv this was a holiday theme one but let me tell you, it was amazing.  We ALL did it together and it was a blast.  I could step away and get dinner on the table while they were still 100% occupied and there were NO. TEARS. ONLY. LAUGHING.  To top it all off, they all worked together the whole time.

So looking for an activity that is screen related to hold their attention but requires them to move around and interact, this is your jam.  There are non-holiday versions that I try out from time to time too - worth the youtube search for sure.

You’re welcome 🙂
